Reading terpene profiles
A terpene profile is a set of chemical measurements, not a promise of a particular experience.

A terpene profile is a set of chemical measurements, not a promise of a particular experience.
What profiles can show
In a study of Nevada cannabis samples, researchers used measured terpene and cannabinoid data to examine chemical diversity. The resulting groupings did not simply reproduce the commercial strain names.
What to record
Keep the sample identity, laboratory, measurement units and analysis date with a profile. A list of aroma words is a different kind of record and should remain labelled as a sensory description.
Limits
Chemical classification does not by itself establish a clinical effect. This reference therefore makes no claim that a named terpene treats a condition or reliably changes mood.
