Understanding chemovars
A chemovar describes chemical variation in a plant, offering a different way to group cannabis than a commercial strain name.

What is being grouped
Researchers can compare measured cannabinoid and terpene profiles and use statistical methods to identify groups. A 2022 study examined classification using both families of compounds.
What the label cannot tell you
A grouping is only as informative as the measurements and method behind it. Record the compounds measured, the sample set and the classification method before assigning a family to a strain page. This entry deliberately provides no universal thresholds.
